Parts for the Commodore Plus 4 KeyboardCare must be taken when dismantling the Plus 4 keyboard as it contains small parts that are easily lost or broken. There is a tiny spring that connects a grounding pad on the PCB to the metal backplate and there are bubble contacts which can drop out. The power LED needs be unclipped from the front side using a small screwdriver to hold back the locking tab. Finally, beware of the screw between the ribbon cable and caps lock switch - this may be hidden by foam tape. The internal stems of the key caps are fragile and easily broken when removing them. Heating the area gently with a hairdryer may help prevent them snapping, but its much safer to dismantle the keyboard and pop out the plungers from the back.
